2024 | Interactive Installation

My Suburbia is a 360 interactive projection that explores domestic “bliss”—or, as many know it, suburban unease. This multimedia installation combines real-time visuals, live musical input, and audience participation to probe the quiet terror of Canadian suburbia.
Using TouchDesigner, a node-based programming language, the code functions as an “electronic loom”—weaving together archival photographs, home videos, and community submissions. The projections are displayed as a dynamic grid, which shift and evolve in real-time, responding to the music’s rhythm, pitch, and melody. This reimagining of the suburban archive is especially urgent in light of the ongoing political push to dismantle Toronto’s Greenbelt, fuel unchecked suburban sprawl, and double down on environmental destruction.
